A Matter of Balance!

“A Matter of Balance” is an award- winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. You will learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home and exercise to increase strength and balance. This 8- class session begins Friday, August 4, and continues with classes Mondays (August 7, 14, 21, 28) and Fridays (August 4, 11, 18, 25) from 9:00-11:00 am at River House. Senior Sexuality Lecture

Physiological changes that occur as part of the normal aging process can affect our relationships and quality of life. Sexuality is a key part of emotional and physical intimacy that people experience throughout their lives. The goal of this presentation is to encourage companionship, open communication, and various forms of intimacy; along with the knowledge needed to protect ourselves from sexually transmitted diseases. Please join us for this complimentary lecture on Tuesday, August 22 at 1:00 p.m. at River House. This lecture is open to the public, please call (904) 209-3655 to register.

River House Book Club

Join us at River House 3:00-4:00 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of each month! We’ll be meeting on September 12th. The book being discussed in September is “The Yearling” by Majorie Kristin Rawling. Joining a book club is a great way to be consistent in your reading, delve deeper into books and make some great friends. This is complimentary. Please call 209-3655 for more information.

Ongoing Activities

Flow Yoga Class

Flow Yoga Classes will be held at River House, 179 Marine Street, on Wednesdays from 1:15-2:30 p.m. Yoga keeps our bodies more fit, the mind calmer and more relaxed. It is also beneficial in the prevention and control of common health and emotional problems linked to aging. Cost per class is $4 for River House Activity Members and $5 for non-members.


Scrabble Club

River House has a Scrabble Club that meets every Thursday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome. No charge to River House Activity Members and $4 to all others.



Pole Walking Class

Our Pole Walking Class meets on Mondays from 8:30-9:30 and 9:30-10:30 and on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00-10:00.


Language Classes

River House offers a variety of language classes! Learn to speak Italian, the “language of love!”

If you would like to be a part of an interesting discussion group, come to Socrates Café! There is no cost
